Asheville, NC | 2017

After our  mountain trip with the family, we decided to extend our trip a little longer and rented a house with another couple in Asheville to spend New Years Eve. I had been to Asheville for dinner once or twice in the past while visiting in Waynesville, but this was the first time I had actually stayed and gone out in Asheville!

The Friday before NYE Timmy and I drove the long drive from Waynesville to Asheville (sike, it was a 20 minute drive) and had to waste a little time until our house was ready to check in. We were getting there a lot earlier than the other couple, so we settled into the house and went grocery shopping.

Later that day, we met up with one of our good friends who was also spending the long weekend in Asheville at The Bier Garden in downtown to watch the NC State Bowl game. We spent majority of the day there and then went over to a friends house to cook dinner and headed home to meet Warren and Jen and relax the rest of the night.

Saturday was our day out day! We all wanted to go out and see some of the cool bars Asheville had to offer! We started our day at  Pack's Tavern for lunch. I have been here before for dinner and it was a really laid back atmosphere, nothing special just like any other bar and grill but the food was delicious! Get the Pimeno Cheese appetizer!

After we stuffed our bellies, we decided to walk to  Wicked Weed Brewing company in the freezing cold! Dumb on our part, but we were being cheap and didn't want to get an uber for .3 mile of a walk! I was excited to try this place, even though I don't like craft beer, because they had a Milk & Cookies beer on the menu! It had to be good right?? was horrible. Actually all of us ended up getting the worst beers, so needless to say we left after our first beer.

It was absolutely freezing while we were in Asheville, so we didn't want to do too much walking around so after Wicked Weed, we got an Uber and headed back to the house to relax a little before dinner. We had dinner at  Asheville Pizza & Brewing. Timmy and I had been there before and thought it would be a fun place to eat and watch the football games because I had remembered there were tons of life-sized games out on their patio, but since it was so cold I guess they didn't have them. The food was still delicious though! Timmy and I got pizza and it was so yummy! I will recommend calling ahead and seeing what the wait time was, it is pretty small but the wait went by fast!

After dinner, Warren and Jen went home and Timmy and I met our friend Justin out and had a few drinks! We bar hopped a little and got to see some of the bars Asheville had to offer. We went to Bier Garden, The Yacht Club and Thirsty Monk.

Sunday, which was New Years Eve, we had planned to have a lazy day and watch football and binge out on food and that is exactly what we did. Throughout the day it started to sleet a little and at one point we heard the roads were really bad and were starting to get worried we wouldn't be able to go out for NYE. But luckily by the we headed out all the roads were clear.

We all went out to Bier Garden and rang in 2018 there! We had so much fun, we got a table and it wasn't crowded so that was really nice!

Monday morning came way too fast and it was time to head home! We really enjoyed Asheville, we didn't get to do everything we all wanted but it was a really nice getaway!
