I had never tried 42nd St. Oyster Bar until this past Sunday when we went to celebrate my moms birthday. This had always been a favorite of hers and I hate I never got to go with her. But boy did she have good taste. I loved this place!

This place can be a tad bit pricey, but spending the money is well worth it for some good seafood! I love me some Scallops so I got the Fried VA Sea Scallops with a Caesar salad and the 42nd St. Cheese Potato. Right before we went out to eat we met at my grandparents house and they had a friend over and she was raving about this cheese potato, so I just had to get it. It was delicious! Much better than the regular mashed potatoes, my sister got some and I tried hers and they were very bland.

When you go out to eat here, make sure you are hungry because they give you lots of food! They start off with hush puppies and butter and you can get as many baskets as you want, then you get your salad or cole slaw, then your meal and your side and we all got seafood and we had so much on our plates! We were halfway through dinner and you could barely tell we had been eating for some time - it looked like we had just gotten our food. Needless to say, you will need a doggy bag to take home leftovers.

Another thing I liked about this restaurant is that there is a dining area with tables and booths and then on the other side of restaurant it is more like the bar area with high top tables. I am pretty sure during the weekends they get more of a drinking crowd because they have bands and live music come out on the weekends. Timmy and I will have to try it on Friday or Saturday night with some friends.
