Food Porn: Chuy's

Chuy's

Type of Food: Tex-Mex
Price: $10-30

Timothy and I had been wanting to try this place out for a long time. I was a little hesitant because I am a picky eater and I didn't know if I would like the spicier food, but I did and now I am hooked!

We went to the one in Raleigh, NC at North Hills and loved the atmosphere. We went on a Saturday night around 7:30pm and it was a little crowded. We had to get a pager and wait to be seated, they quoted us about 30-35 minutes. We weren't upset though because we had plenty of time to kill and we wanted to try out some drinks. Luckily two seats opened right up at the bar as we were walking in so we sat there until our pager beeped. I got a Strawberry Daiquiri and Timmy got a Jalapeno Margarita, both decently sized...but also expensive - I think my bill just for those two drinks was $20-25. I may have taken 3 sips out of my drink and our buzzer was going off - so the wait was definitely not 30-35 minutes, wahoo!

When we sat down, we were immediately drawn to the lady making the tortillas. I love that you can see her make them and it really shows that everything is really fresh there. As soon as we sat down chips and salsa were brought to us. I wasn't too keen on the salsa because it was very chunky but the chips were so good! Definitely just cooked. Now the true test would come to the cheese dip...would I like it or not. See that is what really makes Mexican nights for me is the queso..and it was delicious! It wasn't the normal white queso it was a blend of cheeses, one of their sauces and green chile sauce.

Timmy got a burrito with a whole bunch of stuff in it, I couldn't even tell you what was in it. But he loved it! I got a burrito with just chicken and cheese with the Ranchero sauce on the side. When I got my burrito it had no chicken in it! But it was still good..it was just like a cheese quesadilla but added with the Ranchero sauce was delicious!

While at dinner I also tried one of their new drinks - which of course I can't remember now but it was a fruity drink and it was so good!

I would definitely recommend this place to anyone! We will definitely be going back!

I love Chuy's!!! We frequent ours quite often and in fact, we were this this past Saturday with Chris's parents. Ours has a happy hour during the week with a free nacho bar. Just sayin'....you know...for future reference and all!

I love Chuy's! Next time you have to ask for a side of the creamy jalepeno dip for your chips--so addictive!
