Married Life Tips

Hi there! I'm taking over Ashley's blog for the day while she's off enjoying Wedding Bliss! My name is Lisa and I blog over at Showered With Design. Before I dive into my post, how about I tell you a little bit about myself?
  • Californian [Born + Raised]
  • Etsy Shop owner [You can find it here!]
  • Graphic Designer and Lover of Crafting!
  • I married July 12, 2014 [Just shy over a year!]
  • My blog focuses on Life, DIY, Reviews, and Wedding with the occasional recipe here and there.
Today I wanted to share a few tid bits I have learned during our first year of marriage along with some of my favorite Wedding items!
It doesn't  feel different being married versus dating or being engaged.
This might not be the case for everyone, but aside from the fact that my last name is different and I get to call him my husband now. (Which I actually LOVE saying out loud).
It doesn't seem much different other than we have a stronger bond than ever before. {And being asked about when we are going to have kids now).  We did live with each other for about 3.5 years before our wedding, and have been together for 5 now. We were best friends for a while before actually dating. I think if we wouldn't have known each other for as long as we had,  it would have felt different.  I do love being married and love the goals we set as a couple.

Marriage takes work, but is SO worth it!  Even though I just said being married doesn't really FEEL different, it is very different when it comes to decision making.  When the bigger decisions come up, you have to make sure to make them together. Most of the decisions include financial ones, but they could also be smaller decisions like what's for dinner?   In the end, you have someone on your side. Which is the best part.  You have a lifetime friend, and soulmate. Someone rooting for you when you succeed and there to pick you up when you fall.  You get to go through life with your best friend, and that is the best part!

I agree with you about it not feeling different after we got married. I knew someone who said that she didn't realize her husband was funny until they got married....which kind of boggled my mind? How did you not know that? We lived together before we got engaged/married, too, so I think that probably helped it feel natural after we got married. I do feel like we have a deeper bond since being married, tho.

Compliment your spouse everyday! A compliment is a sign of acknowledgment and appreciation. Make an effort to affirm your spouse's value in life, and in love. http://bit.ly/1PGf4Lh
