Food Porn: Gravy

Gravy

Type of Food: Italian
Price: $10-$30
Address: 135 S. Wilmington St. Raleigh, NC

I have found one of my new favorite Italian restaurants in Raleigh! I can't believe I had never tried this place before now. I had heard of this restaurant and heard great things, but it wasn't until we went to a catering event with Empire Eats Catering (who is catering our wedding) that we were able to try some of their food and knew we had to get to the restaurant soon!

Well we were finally able to try it for a double date night with two of our friends that had been there before. We made reservations and when we got there the place was empty, they said their rush is usually from about 7-9. We had made our reservations for 6:30 and around 7pm people started piling in.

We started with a few cocktails and appetizers. I knew I wanted to get the Risotto Balls because I had tried them at the tasting and loved them. They were even better at the restaurant; their gravy (marinara sauce) was delicious as well. The drinks were good too! I enjoyed a glass or two of Moscato, while Whitney enjoyed Pino Grigio. Being a nicer restaurant, I was surprised the wine by the glass wasn't more expensive. The boys enjoyed "The Perfect Makers Manhattan" and were loving how much Makers Mark was in their tiny glass.

After we scarfed down our appetizers our food was ready. Let me mention getting there at 6:30 you will be in and out in a jiffy. It was nice but it would have also been nice to have a few minutes between each course.

Everyone got something different and everyone enjoyed their meals. I got the Lasagna and it was probably the best Lasagna I have ever had...better than Stouffers! Timmy got the Family Gravy with was pasta with sauce and then different types of meat for the meatballs, he was loving it! Unfortunately I didn't snap any photos of the food but check out their website for some photos!

Gravy is a great spot for a dinner and then go out in Downtown Raleigh for some after dinner drinks. That is what we did and we were able to park our car and walk to other bars after dinner before we had to go back to get our car. If you are looking for some good Italian food, decently priced I would recommend Gravy. Timmy and I's tab was about $74 for an appetizer, 2 glasses of wine, his mixed drink and 2 entrees - not too bad for a date night.
