Get to Know the Blogger | Sophisticated Rust

Good morning Girl Talk readers! It is finally Friday and who is ready for the weekend? Any plans to be near water? I know I do, we plan to hang out at the pool all day tomorrow and hopefully take  Opie swimming for the first time! I have another fun Get to Know the Blogger post for you and if you love home decor and farmhouse feels this is the blogger you need to follow on everywhere you can! I just came across Laura at  Sophisticated Rust and I just love her style!

Today, I want to introduce to you Laura from  Sophisticated Rust and I will just give you a minute to go look at her blog and be envious of all her decor designs!

Ok. now that we are all jealous of her home let's get to know Laura a little more! Laura lives in a small town outside Atlanta, GA with her husband, 2 little boys and 2 fur babies! She and her husband have been married for 7 years and have been renovating their home into my pinterest dream! I got Laura on the blog, now how do I get her to come to my house redecorate it for me!!

What is the name of your blog and the story behind your blog name?
I choose the name Sophisticated Rust, because I LOVEEEEEE home décor, and I really love rusty, dusty, and chippy one-of- a-kind pieces. I like to use old rusty pieces and apply it to a more sophisticated polished feel. Hence, the name!

Why did you start blogging?
I wanted to start sharing some of the home décor ideas we were using
during our home renovation, and now I just like to share some ideas we have!

What is your favorite topic to blog about?
HAHA… you guessed it! I can talk forever about décor and maybe a little mommin’ in there too!

How do you find inspiration for blog posts?
Right now, I use some of the ideas I’ve used throughout our renovation, and then some after reveals. I love using old things and turning them into something new!

Do you have a favorite post from your blog?
I really encouraged doing the “After Series”, but my favorite in that series was revealing the kitchen! ( Found here) On a personal level, I shared my miscarriage story, as well – and was just great connecting with other people who had been through the same thing. ( Found here)

What is your favorite social media website?
IN-ST- GRAM! Hands down! I love pictures and seeing the cute ideas people come up with – so creative!

To take blog pictures, do you use a real camera or your camera on your phone?
I typically use my phone (no judgements please!), but I have had an architectural photographer come in and take a few pics too of the house!

What is your favorite blog to read?
Do I have to pick just one?! I love  Young House Love and  Jones Design Company if I have to narrow it down!

What type of blog posts do you enjoy reading the most?
I really like to read about home décor projects, DIY, renovations, and I love before and afters. Seeing a transformation is awesome!

What advice would you give to someone starting a new blog?
Read all the articles you can about blogging! Pinterest has THOUSANDS of articles written by people who have been successful and its free advice!

What is your favorite way to spend your free time?
Well…. I have a baby, so like SLEEPING right now is a commodity. Normally, I would say going for walks and hanging with my mom and sisters (and of course
my kids). But sleep… give me all the sleep.

Do you have any pets? If so, what kind and what are their names? Yes, they were my first babies. My dogs, I affectionately call them “the girls”, are Peanut and Paisley. They are lab/Australian shepherd mixes, and two of the sweetest dogs in the world.

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live?
Somewhere close to my family. Currently, we are all spread out, and I would just want to be somewhere where I can call them up and we can make a spontaneous trip to TJ Maxx or Target.

If you could only wear one beauty product a day for the rest of your life, what product would it be?
Lip Gloss!
