Snow Day 2017

When Northcarolinians hear on the news that there will be snow, we somewhat freak out. The weather was calling for multiple outcomes before the winter storm came we really weren't sure of what was going to happen. There were some reports our area, which is Raleigh, could get 4-6 inches of snow, some places 12 inches and some said it could miss us. We really weren't sure of what was going to happen, but all the milk and bread were gone from the grocery stores by Wednesday morning.

Friday came and the sleet started off and on around lunch, by that time it was looking like some parts of Raleigh were only going to get ice and sleet. So we went to bed hoping to wake up to a winter wonderland. But, when we woke up we woke up to white on the ground but it was ice instead of snow.

But we were determined to take advantage of it! Thankfully my dad only lives half a mile from me and so does one of my good friends, so we got to spend the snow day with friends and family!

There was no driving happening for us so Timmy and I got bundled up and started walking towards my friends house, she was coming to our house but we decided to meet her halfway so she didn't have to walk all the way by herself. I really didn't think it would be that bad, but the snow flurries were getting bigger and the wind chill was getting colder.

After a few snow beers by dad came by on his razor and picked us up to go over to his house. Caitlin's little boy who is 4 came over too to go sledding. There isn't much sledding in our neighborhoods, but my dad is in the process of having a pool built in his backyard so the mounds of rocks covered with snow made for the perfect sledding hill.

We spent the rest of the day inside having a few more snow beers and enjoying the weather before it was too cold and it was time to go home.

Sunday we woke up and the snow/ice was still there. We spent a little part of the day outside with Caitlin and her little boy again but majority of the day was napping! Our part of NC got very little actual snow, majority of it was ice but just 2 hours away from us they got 8 inches! Hopefully this won't be the last winter storm we see!

We're enjoying the last our snow/ice mixture here in the Queen City. Snow days are always fun and I love them.

That's a pretty good snowfall for NC! We used to live in Fayetteville and I can't remember a time we got more than a few inches...so fun!
