Thanksgiving 2017

Another Thanksgiving in Williamsburg and another exhausted Ashley. It was nice to be back in Williamsburg, VA with my family this Thanksgiving since last year we stayed in Raleigh to be with Timmy's family. But it was definitely a busy one with two dogs!

Per our usual schedule we got to Williamsburg on Wednesday around lunch and met up with my grandparents to eat before we headed to the shops in the downtown area. We walked around, sipped coffee and just took in all the wonderful holiday feels around downtown!

After we walked around downtown, we decided instead of going back to the hotel we would just take the dogs out for a long walk before dinner. The dogs enjoyed the hour walk and before we knew it, it was time for dinner. My grandparents had made reservations at a Tavern in downtown Williamsburg that they ate at the year before that had burgers, hot dogs, fries, etc. Well when we sat down, the menu had changed drastically. It was not an upscale food restaurant with meatloaf, pork loin and not a single burger on the menu. Luckily we all found something but we were all a little disappointed because we were looking forward to a burger. After dinner, we headed to the Yankee Candle store and bought a few Christmas presents, then headed home and went to bed!

Thanksgiving morning came and we grabbed coffee and turned on the Macy's Parade while getting ready for lunch. Lunch was early, 12PM at the lodge so there wasn't much time for relaxing. We got all dolled up and headed to the lodge to meet the family for lunch.

Lunch was delicious, we always eat at the Williamsburg Lodge and it did not disappoint! After lunch we headed back to the hotel to change and head back to downtown Williamsburg. Every year after lunch we stroll through downtown with the dogs. Although it usually isn't a very calming walk because Bailey barks but she wasn't too bad. This is my grandpa's favorite thing about the trip, he just loves walking with us and the dogs!

After a nice long walk, we dropped my grandpa off and headed to go scope out the shops for Black Friday! We came across a Belk's that was open and already having a sale so we scooped up a few Christmas presents. Around 7 we headed to Cracker Barrel and ate dinner and went to bed to be well rested for all the shopping on Friday!

Friday AM came and we were ready to shop! There were some good deals, but the best was the Kate Spade; we walked away with 2 purses each!

Williamsburg is always a fun trip for our family and something we all look forward to!

How did you spend your Thanksgiving?

Sounds like you had a great time! We spent the day with my in-laws at the lake house, and drove around making sure we saw all of his family.

I love this so much. I haven’t been to Williamsburg in years but it looks like such a treat.
