Weekend Recap: First Beach Weekend

This weekend was so much fun and the weather was perfect for our first weekend at the beach and a wedding! My cousin got married at Topsail Beach and it was perfect!

Friday

We started off the weekend with two of our best friends with a double date in Downtown Raleigh. We finally tried Gravy and it did not disappoint! Timothy and I went with Whitney and Jim and fell in love with this restaurant. I had the Lasagna, Timmy had the Family Gravy, Whitney had the Chicken Parm and Jim has the Tagliatelle ala Bolognese. We all enjoyed our meal with some cocktails before heading down to The Big Easy for a few after dinner drinks. Then went home and crashed.

We got the Risotto Balls as an appetizer and their marinara sauce is delicious!

Saturday

We woke up fairly early, earlier than I had planned on waking up, and packed and headed to North Topsail Beach for my cousins wedding! But before we headed to the hotel we had to get some fresh seafood from the beach so we stopped in at this little beach restaurant in Surf City called Sear's Landing. It was so nice to be able to sit out on the deck and watch the boats go bye. I could live at the beach for about a month or so then get bored of it, but it is so nice to be able to sit outside and have that scenery.

Before our food came, of course we had to have some lunch cocktails. And then the deliciousness of seafood came out! I got scallops and OMG were the delicious!

After lunch we decided to take a walk on the beach. The weather was perfect - not to windy and not to hot. If we had had more time we would have laid out but there just wasn't enough time.

Finally it was time to head to the wedding! It was a casual wedding since it was going to be down on the beach, but then when we got there they had to move it up to the area where the reception was going to be because they couldn't get the music to play down at the beach. It was still gorgeous though! Our family has been waiting for this day for so long! I am so happy to officially be able to call Katy my cousin!

The food was delicious and the company was great! After the wedding we went out with my other cousin and some of the bridal party, the bride and groom stayed at their suite. Congrats Robert & Katy!

Weekend Recap: Cold April Weekend

Well another full weekend is in the books. Having tons of things to do on the weekends is nice but Monday morning always comes way too fast! I was a bad blogger this weekend and didn't take too many pictures...but there are a few.

Friday
Friday after work Timmy, my sister Kaylee, her boyfriend and I hit the road and headed to Winston Salem to stay with our grandmother. My dads side of the family lives there and Saturday morning was my cousins Cystic Fibrosis walk. We got there around 8ish and ate dinner and looked at some old photo albums and my grandmother showed Timmy and I her wedding album from 1963, I even got to find some old pictures of my dad and aunt when they were little...stay tuned on Instagram on Thursday for some old Throwback Thursday pictures of my dad as a little boy. We went to bed around 11 because we all had to get up early for the walk.

Saturday
We woke up Saturday morning to cold and rainy. Not an ideal type of day for the Warriors for Wells walk, but we sucked it up and went out to see my cousins and aunt. If you recall last years walk, we had gorgeous weather! My grandpa from Georgia came down so we got to spend some time with him, before we headed back to Raleigh for the rest of our busy weekend.

We got back to Raleigh around 2 and Timmy and I were exhausted and we knew we had a full night ahead of us so we managed to squeeze in a little nap before we had to start getting ready. Then around 6 we headed to my sisters house to take pictures with her before her FIRST prom! I can't believe she is old enough to go to prom! Where did the years go? She looked so pretty and her date was such a gentleman!

After we waved her off to prom, Timmy and I headed to North Hills to grab something to eat. My three best friends - Paige, Rachel and Chelsea were in town for Rachel's sisters wedding and we had to kill some time before we met up with them after the wedding. We decided to try the Tex-Mex restaurant called Chuy's and oh my gosh did we enjoy it! There was a little bit of a wait but we didn't mind because we found 2 seats at the bar and decided to enjoy some frozen drinks before we got sat. The food was so good and we will definitely be going back. After we finished dinner we decided to go to the new bowling alley at North Hills, Kings, to get some more drinks. This was the first time we had ever been there and it was so neat! They have bowling lanes, darts and so many other games. We weren't in the mood to play any games so we just watched some shows about previous NFL drafts and enjoyed some good cocktails. Finally it was time to head over to World of Beer to meet the bridal party. We had never been to the World of Beer in Raleigh, only in Savannah. We got there a little early before the bridal party and was able to snag a couple of tables to fit everyone. The bride and groom showed up first and the night really got started! I got to see all my best friends - remember Paige and Chels are from California so I don't get to see them too often. It was such a fun night! We were out way too late but it was worth it!

Selfie with the bride and groom!

Sunday
Sunday Paige, Chelsea, Rachel, my sister Caroline, Timmy and I had all planned to go have lunch at Kanki, the Japanese Steak Restaurant at the mall. Well we ended up going with almost the entire bridal party! It was fun and I had never seen them cook that much food on the grill at once. The food of course was delicious and then I had to say my goodbyes to my best friends. I will see Rach probably within the next month but I may not see Paige or Chelsea until my bachelorette party in September! After lunch of course I had to hit up the Lilly in Belk and look for a dress for my bridal shower in June and I found the perfect Lilly dress! I can't wait to show yall!! When I finally made it home, Timmy and I just watched TV and went to bed fairly early!

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

Weekend Recap: Easter 2015

It is always hard to go back to work after a long weekend full of family gatherings. I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter weekend! Now let's get to this recap, lots and lots of things packed into one weekend!

Friday

Friday was Good Friday, but I still had to work but at least I got off somewhat early! Friday night we celebrated my very best friend, Brittany's, birthday. Her actual birthday isn't until tomorrow but we wanted to get all of our closest friends together and celebrate with her. We started off going to dinner and having a few drinks. We went to one of my favorite places to eat, Cleveland Draft House. Oh and I got to check off one thing off my Spring Bucket List - go out to dinner and eat outside! It was the perfect night to enjoy dinner outside.

After dinner, we went back to my house to continue the party and have some cocktails at The Gutter. We had thought about going downtown but by the time anyone looked at the clock it was already 12am and it would have been pointless to get a cab and go downtown. We were all having such a fun time, listening to music, riding the paddle boat and playing corn hole.

Saturday

Saturday morning came really early and I did not want to get up, but I knew I had a butt load of things I needed to get done. Timmy woke up and he made me a egg sandwich and then I hit the gym. I needed a good workout to sweat out the alcohol from the night before. I actually ran a mile for the first time without stopping! I know it may not seem like a huge goal but it is for me and especially hungover! After the gym I did a little retail therapy- got some cute sandals at Target - 20% off! Then hit up Ulta for some much needed beauty products. After all my running around I came home and relaxed until it was time to chase Bailey. Someone (cough Timmy) left a gate open down in our backyard and while Bailey was enjoying the nice weather she decided to go for a run. I had the doors open to our patio from our living room so I saw her chase a bird and then I saw her go behind the shed and I could see the sun on the ground and usually you can't because the gate is so tall, but I thought to myself that door looks open...well indeed it was and there she went. After about 10 minutes of looking for her I got a call from a neighbor and thankfully she was there and they had caught her. Then when I gave her a stern talking to I relaxed again until it was time to start dinner. I made Timmy a new dish - Alfredo Lasagna (recipe to come)- it was pretty good. We decided to have a date night at home with a new recipe and some Netflix. Perfect Saturday night.

Sunday

Sunday was busy busy. We had plans with each family. My dad and sister, then Timmy's family and then my mom's side of the family. First we got up and got ready for Church. We went to my Dad's house and had pancakes and bacon before going to church. We tried out a new Church because the one Timmy and I typically go to is in downtown and we weren't going to have enough time to leave Church and then go to his Aunt's house in Clayton. So we tried out a church by my dad and I's houses - it was a nice Church, but since I have been going to the same Church since I was born it is a little hard for me to like another Church.

And of course the Easter Bunny had to make a visit.

After Church we went to Timmy's aunts house with all of his family. The food of course was delicious and the two little ones had an Easter Egg hunt and found all 59 eggs!

After we stuffed ourselves at his aunt's house we went back home changed and relaxed for about an hour before we had to get ready for my family's Easter dinner. We ate again and had some laughs and Caroline got back from New York and DC and told us all about her trips!

Easter was full of eating so today I am staying healthy eating lots of fruit and drinking lots of water!

Weekend Recap and GIVEAWAY Winner!

So I am recapping my weekend a day late. It was a busy busy weekend. My godson turned 1, NC State lost and I had Sunday Funday. It was a long weekend but it was spent with great friends and family!

Friday, it started and I enjoyed another plate of BBQ. We went to The Pit last weekend but then I heard a local business was having BBQ plate day so I made sure my dad picked us up a few plates before he came into work and boy was that BBQ delicious! I could eat BBQ all day everyday, anyone else with me?

Friday night we didn't have any plans, but then ended up going out to watch NC State (#gopack) lose in the Sweet 16 with two of Timmy's groomsmen. We went to our draft house in Garner that we have spent many drunken nights but when we got there the place was packed and not a single place to sit. So I was a little disappointed because their burgers are amazing and was craving one. Well we went a little further and realized they had another one in Clayton, so off to Clayton we went. We thought it wouldn't be as packed, but of course it was. But we ended up getting 4 seats at the bar after waiting for about 30 minutes. By this time I didn't care where I sat I just wanted that dag on burger. Well we finally got it and I killed it and ate the whole thing. By this time it was about 8:30 and I was starving. We continued to be loyal state fans and watched the game and watched them lose it towards the end. What a disappointment.

Also, another disappointment on Friday night. Since the bar was packed and the parking lots were full we had to park in a mud lot. Well, my friend Warren was driving my car back to our house so I asked him to get in and back up out of the mud before anyone else got in the car so I would keep my car INSIDE and OUTSIDE clean. Well he got in, backed out and Timmy and I walked to the passenger side only to see the passenger side of my car was COVERED in red mud.

I was LIVID. Clearly someone did that on purpose because no one else had a problem getting out and no other car had mud on it. Clearly I was not going to just let that sit on my car like that, so off to the car wash we went at 10:45 at night. $11 car wash and there is still mud on my car. Some people are just rude.

Then Saturday I woke up about 8am and took Bailey on a 3 mile walk before we packed up and headed to Charlotte. I got up so early because I knew I needed to go get my oil changed before I drove the 3 hour trip. When I got back from my walk Timmy was all dressed and was on his way out to take my car to get my oil changed #sosweet. I was so happy because that meant I could catch up on some of my shows and relax a little before it was time to leave. We packed up the car and hit the road. 3 hours later we ended up at Super Target in Charlotte wasting some time and buying my godson a birthday gift. Shopping for a 1 year old is hard - thank goodness all the toys have ages on them.

Then we went to the hotel to get ready and wait for my dad, sister and his girlfriends arrival then headed over to my godsons house. He has gotten so big since I saw him last month for his sisters birthday! I think he gained about 10 pounds! I was a bad blogger and didn't take any photos that night but I did steal this photo collage off facebook from that night!

Sunday morning, we woke up hit the amazing breakfast we always look forward to when staying at Embassy Suites and then hit the road back to Raleigh. Listened to a little Taylor Swift and had a jam out session with Timmy. And yes...Timmy was singing along to Taylor Swift. When we got home we had made plans with some friends to come over and watch the Nascar race and grill out. We played some corn hole, fished in the pond, listen to some music, grilled out Kabobs and took the paddle boat out for a spin. It was the perfect Sunday Funday.

Timmy's best man's mom sent me a gift since she couldn't come to our engagement party and I am obsessed!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!
