Do you have a hunter in your household? I do, and sometimes it is hard for me to find some home decor that we both like. Something that isn't too girly and something that isn't too masculine.

Well thankfully, I came across an Etsy shop that solved my problem for at least 1 home decor idea! Beautiful deer heads! Near & Deer has come up with some pretty unique home decor ideas and I am loving their deer heads, antlers and all things hunterish with a little girly touch. As long as I don't get a pink deer head, I think I am good to go with the hubz.

Near & Deer has put a spin on the usual dear head or antlers you see hanging on people's walls - they added a touch of class to them!

Maybe you aren't quite into the Deer Heads, what about unicorns? Every girl loves a unicorn! Timmy and I don't have any kids yet, but this may be something that will be going into our little girls nursery!

Or you can just go with every girls favorite decor - a  princess crown!

Girl Talk: Tell us a little about the creator behind Near and Deer.
Near and Deer:
We are excited to welcome you to nearanddeer.com.  Near and Deer is owned and operated by myself and my husband, Rick in the small town of Stewartstown, Pennsylvania.
The saying "opposites attract" truly applies to us!  I am a huge animal-lover... the kind that won't step on a bug, takes spiders outside when I find them in the house, and wears PETA t-shirts. Rick is an avid hunter who grew up hunting deer, geese, and duck. His family even has a huge deer head (the real kind) on their living room wall.  Of course when we first started dating, these differences caused lots of arguments - but we got through them!
In 2011, we got engaged and began talking about buying a house together. True to form, we bickered about how we would incorporate his love of hunting and taxidermy into our future home given my opposing viewpoint. Our solution was faux taxidermy.  I made a fabric covered deer head hoping that Rick would like it and that it would solve our problems.  And to my surprise, he loved it!  He loved the idea so much and encouraged me to sell them online. The Near and Deer Etsy Shop was born.
In the company's early stages, Near and Deer was just a creative outlet that provided some extra spending money. After making a few sales, Rick began adding his own design ideas and starting creating custom painted faux taxidermy. By spending more time making new designs and different types of animals, Near and Deer began growing more rapidly.
In 2013, it was time to take the business to the next level.  Rick decided to quit his day job in the HVAC industry and pursue entrpreneurship - and he's never looked back.  I still work full time in my career as a business appraiser (we spend enough time together -working together may be a little too much!), but spend all of my evenings growing Near and Deer.
Thank you for taking the time out of your day to visit Near and Deer. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to our team if you have any questions or comments at rick@nearanddeer.com.  We appreciate your support of our business and passion!

Girl Talk: How long have you had your Etsy shop?
Near and Deer: 6 years. We started our shop in 2011 - I can't believe it has been that long already!

Girl Talk: Where did you come up with the name Near and Deer?
Near and Deer: We started selling deer heads, so the name "Near and Deer" is a play on words with things that are near and dear to your heart. We thought it would be cute to just spell it "deer" to go with our most popular item.

Girl Talk: What is your favorite item in your shop to make?
Near and Deer: We love making  custom fabric deer heads the most. It is interesting when our customers pick out the exact fabric they want to match their home and see their vision come to life.

Girl Talk: What is your most popular item in your shop?
Near and Deer: Our White and Gold 14 point deer is the most popular.

Girl Talk: Do you have any new items that will be coming to Near and Deer in the future?
Near and Deer: Yes! We have new faux deer skulls and longhorn skulls that have etching on the faces. They are a more artsy twist on the skulls we currently have.

Girl Talk: Do you sell anywhere else, if so where?
Near and Deer: We sell on a ton of other platforms: our website www.nearanddeer.com, Etsy, Wayfair, Joss & Main, All Modern, Walmart.com, Amazon, Opensky, Houzz, ebay, Zulily, and A Touch of Modern.

These are so pretty! I was in Hobby Lobby recently and they had a few of these animal busts that were painted in the most beautiful patterns. I am in love with all the creativity!
