Pinterest Inspiration { DIY Pinterest Projects }

We all know Pinterest can bring out the crafty in us, no matter if we are good at crafts or not; we will want to try them! I am not the best at crafts but I do have a long list of DIY projects I want to complete, who knows when I will but they are on my list! 

DIY: Invitation Liners

Envelope liners are seriously the best. I love the look of them and I love how fun they are! When Timmy and I sent out our Save the Dates I lusted over the look of the glitter liners inside the envelopes. I wanted to have the glitter liners inside the envelopes...but they were expensive (and although my uncle was printing the envelopes and cards for us for free, it wasn't a necessity to have the glitter liners). So Pinterest came in handy and I found a lot of tutorials of how to make your own envelope liners. If you follow me on Instagram you saw I spent a lot of time working on making my own envelope liners. I went to the store with the intentions on buying the glitter paper to go inside, but they didn't have any and then I found the cutest book of a whole bunch of different card stock type paper. I bought it and I am obsessed with my liners now. 

You will need...

• Paper for the liners
• Scissors
• Envelopes
• Double sided tape
• Ruler

1. Take the envelope and trace on a piece of paper (heavy weight card stock is preferable)

2. Cut from your template. After you have cut it, the paper should be the same size as the envelope. It will not fit in the envelope this size

3. To make the liner fit into the envelope cut 3/4 inch from the bottom and 1/8 inch from each side

4. Now trace this onto the papers you want to use as many envelope liners you need

5. Place the liner into the envelope, line up and make sure it is centered

6. Use the double sided tape to hold it in place

Pinterest DIY Projects

I love love love Pinterest, but I also hate hate hate Pinterest. I love it when I am bored and have nothing else to do and there goes an hour of my time. But I hate it when I need to be productive and I get on Pinterest and I get caught up looking at all the delicious meals, color nails and all the really cool DIY projects. DIY Body Cream { Guest Post: Justine @ Little Dove Creations }

Hello Girl Talk readers! My name is Justine and I blog over at Little Dove Creations, where I talk a little bit about DIY, a little bit about recipes, a little about my business, and a little about my family. I have been married for nearly 8 years to my handsome hubby Mike, and we have three (soon to be four!!) little rapscallions.

My life obviously revolves around my children at the moment, long gone are the days when I had "free" time and could spend an hour soaking in the bathtub and pampering myself.
Yes, I did that often. Those were the days.
I still like to spoil myself whenever I get a chance, and my love of DIY has inspired a lot my own bath and body products. I love making my own because I know exactly what goes in them, and I know I can use them on even my little loves' sensitive skin!

Dry winter skin troubles might be far behind you, but I suffer from dry skin all year-long, especially when I'm pregnant! So today I'm sharing with you a lavender peppermint body cream, guaranteed to hydrate thirsty skin in no time!

Lavender Peppermint Body Cream

- 3/4 cup of shea butter
- 1/4 cup of coconut oil
- 1 tsp. of peanut, olive, or other oil of your choice
- 20 drops of lavender essential oil
- 5 drops of peppermint essential oil

1. Combine Shea butter and coconut oil in food processor or mixer and combine well, scraping sides as necessary. 
2. Add peanut (or other oil) and essential oils, then mix again. Continue blending until smooth. If desired, whip with a stand or hand mixer.

This mixture works wonders on dry problem areas, like my hands and elbows (and stomach when I'm pregnant!). Give it a try and let me know what you think!

(Note, if making this as gifts or for children, use a different type of oil other than peanut. Peanut oil has some great benefits, but there are some opinions that prolonged use on your skin can lead to peanut allergies. There is currently not a lot of scientific evidence to back that up. Any oil can serve as an alternative, such as grape seed oil or olive oil.)

DIY { Glitter Streamer }

You will need

Glitter Paper

Clear String

Scissors

Hot Glue Gun

1.) Pick out the colors you want for your circles.

2.) I took a cup and traced all the circles on the back on the paper and then cut them out.

3.) Then once all the circle are cut out, you are ready to glue them to the string. And then you are done! 

I actually only completed one string of the DIY because I had planned to use them for our Stock the Bar Engagement party but didn't have room to hang them up or time to finish it. But if I had finished this is what they would have looked like.

DIY Pallet Furniture

So everyone has seen all the amazing things you can build out of pallets and I have finally decided to start on one! Hopefully I can get it done! But in the meantime here are some of my favorite pallet DIYs!

DIY { Instagram Photo Banner }

This was one of the decorations I made for our Stock the Bar Engagement party and I got so many compliments on it!

You will need...

Small clothes pins

String

Scissors

Photo Paper

Printer

1. Pick out the photos you would like to put on your banner. On my banner I have 12 pictures.

2. Save them on your computer. 

3. Open up PicMonkey.com on your web browser.

4. Click "Edit" and open up the first picture you would like to work with.

5. Edit the photo the way you would like - sharpen, color, rotate, etc. (PS going through this tutorial with you with a picture from the first few months into mine and T's relationship #throwback)

6. Click on the Square icon below the butterfly icon. Then click "Polaroid Frame"

(This is what you will get)

7. You can change the look of the Polaroid frame, the color of the picture and the background color. Below is my finished document in PicMonkey - I edited the color from the above picture by changing the effect shade.

9. Next save your photo onto your computer. 

10. Next, is the printing. Since on PicMonkey the Polaroid Frame is at an angle I decided to print them on Word. I changed the height and width to the size I wanted. I had to do a few test prints to get them the exact size I wanted.

11. Once your picture is in Word. Click on the "Picture Tools" tab at top.

12. On the far left is where you can enter in the Height and Width.

Height = 5.05"

Width = 4.32"

(Should look about like that on computer screen)

13. Repeat Steps 1-12 until all pictures have been made.

14. Put the Photo paper in printer and print.

15. Once all photos have been printed it is time to cut them. Cut along Polaroid boarder not square boarder outside of Polaroid boarder.

16. Once all are cut hang on string with small clothes pin and enjoy!
