{ Married Life } Favorite 2nd Year Memories

Two years. That is 731 days I have had the privilege of calling Timmy my husband. I remember the days counting down to our wedding just like they were yesterday, and to think we have now been married for 2 wonderful years.

So when I graduated in May of 2013 we knew we only had about 2 months left of living with my roommates and we had to figure out what we were going to do. Ultimately Timmy and I decided to move in together and we signed a lease on our very first apartment together.

After spending almost a week in Florida and missing this new guy in my life, I was ready to get home. I remember on the drive home from Florida we were texting how many hours it would be until we saw each other, lame and silly I know. But as soon as I got into town we hung out.

Timmy and I dated for 3 years before he  popped the question on our 3rd anniversary in Florida. When we got engaged, that is really when the blogging began...well consistently. So you all don't really know much about Timmy and I's relationship before I got the ring. Sure, I have shared some snippets like some of my favorite memories, or past  Valentine's Days but you don't know about the little things that made us, us. So with our 6 year dating anniversary coming up at the end of July, I thought I would share with you all a little of our relationship before the ring!

Our Anniversary Staycation

Last week Timmy and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary and decided to have a staycation. We had tossed around the idea of going back to Florida where we got  engaged or traveling to Asheville for a long weekend, but we ultimately decided to have a staycation in Raleigh.

Wow, it is just crazy to think that exactly one year ago today I was getting ready to walk down the aisle to marry my best friend! This year has flown by, we blinked and we are celebrating our 1st anniversary. 

Traveling Together

So to continue with the theme of the week, all about my husband and I, since our anniversary is Monday!

My husband and I love to go on vacations and love to travel. While we don't get to travel as much as we would like we are sure to take advantage of every chance we do get to travel. I have actually read that traveling with your spouse is beneficial to your overall relationship. We are constantly adding to our travel bucket list and trying to check them off one vacation at a time.

{ Married Life } Why I'm Grateful

Next Monday Timmy and I will have been married for 1 year and I love him more than I ever thought was possible. We have grown as a couple and individually more in this first year of marriage than we did the 4 years we dated. Thinking back to our  Wedding day always brings such a big smile to my face - it was the Best Day Ever. Over the past year I have been jotting down little things he does that I don't always thank him for, things he does without expecting a thank you for. He has been a wonderful husband and I can't wait to spend many more anniversaries with him!

A marriage means a new monogram, which makes me happy but makes my wallet very unhappy-but I can't help it! I love monograms! We have been married a year this coming Monday and I am still obsessing over my new monogram!

Some of the Best Decisions I've Ever Made

Awhile back I was doing my daily blog reading and saw that Chelsea wrote about some of her  best decisions she had ever made and I thought it was such a neat post! I agree with Chelsea, it can be very hard to get caught up in the negative things about yourself or your life, but we have to choose to be positive and focus on the good things in our lives. We can't dwell on past decisions that may not have been the best decisions we have made, but without them our lives could have ended up differently. All of our decisions shape who we are, good or bad. We have to learn to accept them and focus on the good decisions we made along the way.

2016 started off with a bang with lots of dates in January and February started off kind of slow and us not wanting to do much because it was so cold outside! But spending quality time together is important to us so we made sure to find time away from the house to spend together.

Timmy and I have been together since 2011. We have had many different types of Valentine's celebrations, but this one has been the most special. This is the first year we are celebrating Valentine's Day at Mr. and Mrs. Stephenson.
